Quit vaping on your commute: prepare the transitions
Prepare departure, travel and arrival without using an app while driving.

Map the journey before you leave
Choose one regular journey and identify where vaping usually enters it: leaving home, waiting for transport, reaching work or returning afterward. These are different situations even when they happen within the same hour. The point is to prepare each transition, not to fill in a detailed diary during travel. If you drive, do all app use before departure or after parking safely, never while driving.
How to quit vaping with a trigger plan you can usePrepare departure while stationary
Before leaving, choose one practical alternative for the moment you would usually reach for a vape. You might arrange a support message, take a different item for your hands while waiting, or reread your reasons in PuffOff. Select only something compatible with safe travel. Breathing and grounding tools are available in the app, but trying a tool at home does not prove it will remove every later craving.
Keep the transport plan simple
For public transport, distinguish waiting on the platform from being seated. Put the phone away before you start walking. Use the app only when stationary in a safe place. Never open PuffOff while driving. Never follow an onscreen breathing guide while driving. Never record an urge while driving. Park safely before any check-in. A missing note is preferable to a recording task that competes with attention to travel.
Give arrival its own response
The first break after arrival may have been part of the vaping routine, even when the journey itself went differently. Decide in advance where to go and what to do on arrival: greet a colleague, get water or contact a supportive person when convenient. Pick a response that fits your actual setting. Advice about recognising triggers supports preparation; it does not establish that any particular replacement works for everyone.
How to get through a vape craving, step by stepPlan the return separately
Returning home can involve different company, fatigue or waiting time. Avoid assuming the departure plan covers it automatically. Before the return journey, while stationary, identify one likely difficult moment and a support option. PuffOff can keep your reasons and commitment available; it is not a live coaching service or a messaging app. For treatment questions or distressing symptoms, seek appropriate professional support rather than relying on the journey plan alone.
Review one transition at the end of the week
When safely stopped, look back at which transition was hardest to prepare for and whether your chosen response was useful. Use the app’s mood or craving check-in if you want a record, without needing to log every event. If there was a slip, preserve the observations and revise one transition. The broader quit-plan guide covers the overall attempt; this checklist concentrates on the repeated departure, travel and arrival sequence. This guide is published by the app’s developer.
Questions
Should I log a craving while driving?
No. Use the app only before departure or after safely parking, never while driving.
Does the morning plan cover the return journey?
Not necessarily. Prepare the return separately when its conditions or usual triggers differ.
