Choosing a conversation translator designed for iPhone Duo: privacy questions and honest limits
What to ask about speech, storage and supported languages before trusting a new conversation translator, and how DuoTalk answers each question today.

In this guide5
Ask where speech is processed
Speech recognition may run on the device or go through a platform service, depending on the device and the language. A trustworthy product page says which. DuoTalk uses Apple's speech recognition, requests on-device recognition when the iPhone supports it, and listens only while the button is held.
Ask what is stored
Check whether phrases, transcripts, audio, language choices and conversation history stay local or leave the device. “No account” does not automatically answer every data question. In DuoTalk, the current conversation stays on the phone, no audio is saved, and the history can be cleared with one action.
Ask which languages are actually supported
A language can appear in a menu while a particular speech, translation or playback mode remains unavailable. Support should be checked by language pair and by device, not inferred from a marketing image. DuoTalk plans seven languages and shows a readable message when a pair is not ready on the iPhone.
Ask what the device claim means
A concept image communicates a direction; it does not prove that a device, a system feature or an SDK is supported. DuoTalk is designed for iPhone Duo and also runs on a regular iPhone layout. Compatibility will be stated precisely when the app is released, not before.
Use translation as assistance
For important conversations, use a qualified interpreter or another independent confirmation. The honest promise of an app in development is clarity about what it does today and what is still being tested, not certainty about a future result.
Questions
Does “no account” mean no data leaves the phone?
Not necessarily. The data flow must be checked feature by feature, including Apple platform services and any future SDK or server. The DuoTalk privacy policy lists what the current build does.
Can a concept image prove iPhone Duo support?
No. Device and system support require public documentation, compatible software and testing on the device itself.
What is the safest promise for an app in development?
That its design and its limits are stated clearly. Availability, supported language pairs and translation accuracy remain validation work until release.
