Privacy Policy
DuoTalk (iOS) · Pre-release draft, 10 September 2026
The short version
DuoTalk has no account and no server of its own. The languages you choose, the phrases you type or say and the current conversation stay on your iPhone. No audio recording is saved. This page describes the version in development; it will be reviewed before any App Store release.
What the app processes
- The two languages you select.
- Text you type, and text recognised from your voice while you hold the Speak button.
- The translation returned by Apple Translation for that text.
The current conversation is kept by the app for the session and can be cleared with one action. It is never sent to a DuoTalk server, because there is none.
Speech and Apple services
Speech recognition uses Apple's Speech framework. On-device recognition is requested when the iPhone supports it for the chosen language; otherwise Apple may process the audio through its own service under Apple's privacy policy. Recognition runs only while the button is held, and DuoTalk never writes the audio to a file. Text translation uses Apple Translation, which works on the device once the language resources are downloaded. Spoken playback uses the system voices.
Purchases
If in-app purchases are offered at release, they will be handled by Apple, and DuoTalk will never see your payment details. The build in development includes the RevenueCat SDK to recognise purchases: it receives the fact that a purchase happened together with an identifier Apple assigns to your device for this app, and nothing about your conversations.
What DuoTalk never does
- It never uses the camera, your location or your contacts.
- It shows no advertising and contains no advertising or analytics SDK.
- It never sells or shares your phrases.
Your rights
Because nothing is stored outside your iPhone, deleting the app deletes its data. Depending on where you live, you may have rights of access, correction and deletion; write to [email protected] and we will answer.
Changes
If a future release adds a server, an account, analytics or a new SDK, this policy and the App Store privacy answers will be updated before that release.
