Compare two speaking attempts without rating yourself
Find an observable change between two answers and choose one specific next action.

Define what you want to compare
Two different answers do not automatically show which one is more useful. Start with one question and one specific aim: state your proposal in the first sentence, explain your reason or answer an objection without changing the subject. Keep the audience and situation the same for both attempts. A page divided into two columns is enough for this method. Write the aim at the top so the comparison does not become a broad judgment about your personality, confidence or general ability to speak.
Keep the first attempt unchanged
Answer once without correcting every sentence along the way. Preserve the original text or recording. Note the question, date and format: writing, audio or video. These details describe the conditions of the attempt. If you were interrupted, simply record that fact. Do not rewrite the first version after seeing the second, because you would lose the evidence of what changed. An imperfect first answer is material you can work with; it is not proof that you cannot contribute to a conversation.
Choose one instruction for the second attempt
Read your first answer and choose a limited change. “Begin with my choice” is easier to act on than “be better.” You might replace a vague word, remove a digression or add a missing example. Make a second attempt with the same facts and question. Parlunea keeps separate attempts and supports comparison of your own responses. Its introductory exercise is written; practice sessions also offer audio and video. Prefer comparing two attempts in the same format so a change of medium does not obscure a change in wording.
Observe a concrete example
Question: “Why do you suggest moving the meeting?” First attempt: “There are several things to discuss and it might be better, with everyone’s availability.” Second attempt: “I suggest Tuesday morning so both leads can attend. They are away on Monday; Tuesday lets us make the decision together.” The useful observation is that the choice and reason are now named. This does not prove greater charisma or a better reception in a meeting. It shows a specific change in the wording of this particular answer.
Separate observations from preferences
Write what you can point to in both versions: the answer arrives earlier, a reason is present or an example is still missing. Then separate personal preferences, such as liking the tone of the first attempt more. With audio, listening again can reveal a pause or repeated word without assigning a psychological quality to your voice. With video, observe a visible behavior when it serves your chosen aim. Parlunea does not analyze your face or your voice and does not assign an eloquence score to these attempts.
Ask for feedback without making it a verdict
If you invite a listener, ask a focused question: “Which choice did you understand?” or “What reason do you remember?” Keep their words and identify them as that person’s observation. Any automated feedback is another source and should remain distinguishable. Parlunea offers optional text feedback using Apple Intelligence on compatible devices when the service is available; you do not need it to practice. You can challenge a comment and return to the words actually present in your answer. Feedback should help you choose a next action.
Choose your next real-world attempt
Finish with an action: use the opening in your next meeting, answer another question with the same structure or retry without a sentence starter. Note what you will observe next instead of claiming progress you have not yet seen. Parlunea availability depends on your App Store country; check its listing for current access. Its introduction and first exercise are free; other exercises and paths require Parlunea Plus. Answers and recordings stay on your iPhone. You can already perform the entire exercise on paper and with a recorder you have available.
Questions
Do I have to choose a winning version?
No. You can keep the second opening and an example from the first. Explain the choice using the aim of the response.
Is AI feedback necessary?
No. Comparing your texts and recording your observations is enough for this exercise. Optional text feedback depends on a compatible device and Apple service.
