1. What Tacet is

Tacet is a sound app for people with tinnitus, published by Roméo Gambino. It generates noise and ambiences on your device, shaped around a pitch you set yourself by ear. Apple's standard end-user licence agreement applies to the download.

2. What Tacet is not

Tacet is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat or cure tinnitus or anything else, and it is not a hearing test. The pitch you set is a setting made by ear on uncalibrated consumer headphones, not an audiometric measurement, and the journal records your own daily impressions, not a clinical result.

Nothing in the app replaces a medical opinion. **Tinnitus that appeared suddenly, in one ear, especially together with hearing loss or dizziness, needs a doctor within days, not weeks.** Ringing that pulses with your heartbeat, or that follows a head injury, also deserves a prompt appointment.

3. Safe listening

Tacet caps its own output and warns you when your device volume is high, but it cannot measure what reaches your ear. Keep the sound at a comfortable level, below your tinnitus rather than over it, and stop if anything is unpleasant. The test tone stops on its own after a few seconds; do not defeat that by restarting it continuously.

4. Free and paid

Finding your pitch, three sounds, a fifteen-minute timer, the daily journal and every article are free. Tacet Pro adds the other sounds, the notch mode, longer timers and the PDF export.

Prices are shown in the app in your own currency before any payment. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period; you cancel in your Apple Account settings, not in the app. A free trial, when offered, converts to a paid period unless cancelled before it ends. Refunds are handled by Apple.

5. The articles

The ten articles summarise what public health services and tinnitus associations publish. They are written for orientation and say plainly where the evidence is uncertain. They are not medical advice and do not describe your case.

6. Liability

Tacet is provided as it is. Within the limits allowed by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect damage arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms removes rights you hold as a consumer under the law of your country.
