Separate offline access from Pro access and missing household information before you rely on your phone.

## Make a list of specific destinations

Write the information you expect to find: one relevant scenario, your household plan and a particular item in your inventory. A vague check that the app opens will not tell you whether the material you need is available. Choose destinations for your actual situation. This is an access check, not a certification that your household is prepared for every hazard or that the selected instructions fit every emergency.

## Check the access labels while connected

Surv keeps life-saving guides, the first ten minutes and the during phase of each scenario free. Pro unlocks the full library and complete scenarios. Open the exact parts you intend to use and read any access labels before departure. If you need to manage a purchase, do that while connected. Do not assume offline operation removes a purchase restriction or gives every tool the same access level.

## Distinguish a blank field from a locked guide

A missing contact in your family plan is information you have not entered; a Pro-labelled section is an access restriction. Neither is automatically a network failure. Review your locally stored family plan, emergency medical information card and inventory with that distinction in mind. Keep sensitive details appropriate to the people who may handle the phone, and avoid putting unnecessary private information into an exercise or shared screenshot.

## Follow the same route without a connection

After preparation, test your chosen destinations without network access, as explained in the offline preparation guide. Note what opens, what is restricted and what is absent. Check the route itself, not only a recently displayed screen. If you reconnect to complete an item, repeat that route afterward. This practical test cannot guarantee that future app updates, damage or an empty battery will leave access unchanged.

## Give tools their own check

Surv’s standard compass, coordinates, SOS light, whistle and CPR metronome are free; the solar compass and saved waypoints require Pro. Pick only the tools relevant to your preparations and check their labels and controls. A tool being present does not demonstrate your ability to use it safely. A reference app also does not replace emergency services or the instructions of local authorities during a real event.

## Resolve each gap with a backup

Finish with three lines: available material, unresolved restrictions and information to complete. Arrange a physical backup for essential contacts and instructions, and check your power supply separately. Use the existing kit and communication guidance for broader preparation. Surv can help organise local references; it cannot keep a phone charged, transmit an emergency call without suitable service or determine which instruction is appropriate for every changing situation. This guide is published by the app’s developer.

## Questions

### Is offline access the same as Pro access?

No. Offline operation concerns connectivity; Pro access concerns which content and tools are unlocked.

### Is opening a guide a preparedness test?

It checks access only. Supplies, understanding, power and local instructions need separate consideration.
